Sherrills Ford, N.C. (May 3, 2014) – Thirteen-year-old Todd Gilliland earned his first late model win Friday night at Ace Speedway (Altamahaw, N.C.) in just his seventh start in a stock car.  The win came after a day of sweeping the top spots in the event’s practice sessions and earning the pole.

It’s not unusual for children of race car drivers to want to follow in their fathers’ tire tracks, but few succeed when it comes time to make the lap times count.

Todd Gilliland might be one of those who does.

The 13-year-old son of Sprint Cup driver David Gilliland made his Late Model Stock debut recently at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C., scoring a second-place finish. The race was Todd’s first in big-bodied stock cars after years of success in quarter-midgets.

Third generation racer Todd Gilliland, son of David Gilliland and grandson of Butch Gilliland, got back to racing for the season at Ace Speedway, where he finished second in his late-model stock car (LMSC) debut and also in the 40-lap Limited Late Model race later that same evening.
